Your Partner in healing

Approach

Whole-Body Medicine

Your body tells a story. Every scar, curve, and spider vein a testament to your resilience. It holds echoes of your life experiences, communicating the essence of who you are.

Chinese medicine honors your body as the wise guardian of your personal story and the protector of your heart. It acknowledges that physical symptoms can also be rooted in the spirit

Together, we will work with your body’s innate intelligence and ability to heal by providing the safety and resources it needs to find balance, whatever that looks like for you.

Your Body tells a story.
About

Dr. Sarah coghlan, L.Ac.

I am a Classical Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine practitioner based in Richmond, Virginia. I earned my Doctorate from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts and my Master's degree from the Pacific College of Health and Sciences in New York.

My training encompasses classical acupuncture, herbal medicine, and classical pulse taking, following the lineage of 88th Generation Daoist master Jeffrey Yuen and my mentor, Ann Cecil-Sterman.

I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals with chronic and complex conditions, as well as those grappling with psycho-emotional-spiritual concerns or navigating periods of transition and renewal.

After a decade working in International Development, I have a deep interest in the intersection of conflict-related trauma and peacebuilding; and the potential for acupuncture as a tool for resistance and resilience.

I am excited to be back home in Virginia and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of the Richmond community. In my free time you can find me traveling, swimming in the river, or lost in a good book.

What is Classical Chinese Medicine?

Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM) is a sophisticated and holistic medical system rooted in Daoist philosophy that acknowledges the complexity and multi-dimensionality of nature, and the body within it.
